Ingredients
First Group
3/4cupall-purpose flour
2teaspoonssea salt
1/2teaspoonblack pepper
1teaspoongarlic powder
2eggs
Second Group
2cupsPanko
2teaspoonsItalian seasoning
12ounceslow moisture mozzarella cheesecut into pieces
Homemade marinarafor dipping
1quartvegetable oil
Instructions
Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.
In a small shallow bowl mix the flour with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
In a second bowl add eggs along with 1 tablespoon of water and beat until smooth.
In a third bowl mix together the panko and the Italian seasoning.
Coat each piece of cheese with egg mixture, then flour, then egg again, and finally press into panko. Set on prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining cheese and freeze for 45 minutes.
Heat oil in a large pot to 350°F. Fry cheese sticks in small batches until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Drain on a metal rack.
Serve immediately with marinara sauce.
Notes
For best results, freeze the cheese sticks before frying.
