Equipment

  • 1 Large pot For frying
  • 1 Baking Sheet Lined with parchment paper

Ingredients

First Group

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 eggs

Second Group

  • 2 cups Panko
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 12 ounces low moisture mozzarella cheese cut into pieces
  • Homemade marinara for dipping
  • 1 quart vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.
  • In a small shallow bowl mix the flour with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
  • In a second bowl add eggs along with 1 tablespoon of water and beat until smooth.
  • In a third bowl mix together the panko and the Italian seasoning.
  • Coat each piece of cheese with egg mixture, then flour, then egg again, and finally press into panko. Set on prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining cheese and freeze for 45 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a large pot to 350°F. Fry cheese sticks in small batches until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Drain on a metal rack.
  • Serve immediately with marinara sauce.

Notes

For best results, freeze the cheese sticks before frying.
